Wordless Wednesday - Boundless Imagination

It's been a while since I've done a Wordless Wednesday post. Tonight my Munchkin picked out a book before bedtime, climbed up in my lap & said: "I want to 'read' this to you." He chose "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" He has had this book memorized for a year or so. It bought me back to the cassette tape my parents kept of me "reading" which was really making up stories to tell them when I was only 3 years old.

Time has flown & there is so much that Munchkin's imagination dreams up now, so I'm sharing his latest LEGO art creation, a Power Rangers MegaBot. All the characters have been incorporated into one fighting machine.

He also made a Valentines Card for my hubby & I was amazed how orderly & meticulous he was being creating it...

Momma's little boy is growing up so fast... too fast. I can barely stand to watch. Night & day changes happening so quickly.

The first attempt at building a crane...a few weeks ago

relaxing in the cool air on a 100+ degree day

 Fueled by an ever growing imagination

Munchkin & Mom LEGO Adventure #4 - LEGO KidsFest

It's been an eventful year of play dates for Munchkin & Mom with LEGO themes.  Earlier this year we went to MOA to the LEGO store for the first time. Next came a trip to the LEGO Train Club's Open House, then the Children's Museum, which has a LEGO exhibit running all summer.

It was fitting that I learned of LEGO Kidsfest a couple of months ago via Twitter.  They were running a Groupon type deal, but by the time I heard about it - the deal was sold out.  I went online & found the tickets for sale. Since I knew hubby would be in full-on golf mode it would be a perfect Saturday morning playdate for Munchkin & I to attend.  

Yesterday's marathon morning rainfall was the perfect excuse to be inside for hours & we were not disappointed. Here's a sampling of our favorites:

• Construction Zones
• Monochromatic Builds
• Ramp Races
• Model Museums
• & Much, much more

Wordless Wednesday - LEGOs, Chalk & Endless Imagination

How "Daddy Play With Me"...

quickly evolved into a major real estate development going up on our driveway.

All it took were some LEGOs, Chalk & Endless Imagination.

 Munchkin the designer/architect drew up "the plans" & directed while Daddy did the drawing.

Wordless Wednesday - LEGO Train Club Show

The Greater Midwest LEGO Train Club & The Twin Cities LEGO Train Club have come together to put on an impressive experience for kids to see with off the charts imaginative builds fueled by decades of experience playing with LEGO blocks.

As we made our way into the old building where the show was set up, a few antique pieces caught my eye. 

Since the show is free to the public, I expected it to be busy. I had no idea what was in store around each hallway turn as we searched for the end of the line to get into the show.

Thanks to the KARE11 feature which aired recently, the lines were unbelievable.

Munchkin played games on my android to pass the time waiting in line.

About a half an hour later give or take a few minutes we had finally made it to the front of that crazy line.

There is no doubt it was worth the wait.

This Water Wheel actually moved.

And so did the trains.

This club member was one of many there to answer questions. He said they could not believe the never-ending lines of crowds the KARE11 story had brought in. They had never seen anything like it before.

The level of detail in these builds was incredible considering NONE were built from kits.

Smoke was simulated, so even Munchkin yelled "FIRE!"

Lots of quirky details like the car stuck in a tree.

Or a hobo on a boxcar

A truly fun way to spend part of the afternoon & hopefully we can go back when there aren't hundreds of people trying to get in. It was a treat for both Munchkin & I both to see.
